I take it to mean artists from the Dead's contemporaries, but the notion did cross my mind.

Doing quite well - some sailing & some beach time this summer. Been listening to alot of Todd Snider & John Prine lately. Will probably queue up some Johnny later - currently listening to Special Ed & the Short Bus.

Sad hearing of Johnny's passing - the last time I saw him was out east on LI at a winery and it was a fantastic intimate outdoor venue. The PA system went out and Johnny waited a little and then when it wasn't promptly fixed resumed playing just through the amps and the whole crowed got quite as mice so we could all hear the music. Really cool and special hearing it right through the amps.

the original white guy with a black heart; his music and attitude lives on in legacies to so many...quite the show on the Go To Heaven tour, I gather from the set list a friend sent on a KOA post card...
